The Minnesota Northwoods is full of adventures for everyone, no matter their interests! We’re just going to touch on a few possibilities today, but explore our website to find even more adventures for the whole family!
For starters, all of our resorts are located on awesome lakes! You can either get in the lake or on the lake, wherever your preference lies. Many of our resorts offer water fun like floating docks, floating trampolines and other water toys for the whole family to enjoy. If swimming isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy getting out on the water with a paddle board, kayak, canoe, fishing boat, or pontoon. Check with your resort to see what amenities are available and reserve boats ahead of time if you can.
Aside from all of our lakes, check out one of our three main communities. A day trip to Bemidji could be the perfect adventure for any day, rain or shine. Bemidji is a cultural hub with plenty of attractions including restaurants, shops, and entertainment in its historic downtown district. It’s also the birthplace of legendary lumberjack, Paul Bunyan, and his companion, Babe the blue ox. Make sure to visit the larger than life statues that stand watch along Lake Bemidji’s downtown waterfront. Bemidji’s Tourist Information Center is conveniently located in the same park, so stop in to speak to staff members about other Bemidji attractions to fit your needs.
The Minnesota Northwoods is full of great trails, making it easy for families to explore the nature of our area. An all-time favorite activity, for tourists and locals alike, is biking around Lake Bemidji. Start at Paul and Babe and plan to spend a couple hours making the leisurely 16 mile ride around the lake that is fabled to have been created by one of Paul Bunyan’s giant footprints. The north side of the lake takes you through Lake Bemidji State Park where you can stop for a picnic or view wildlife like loons and Lady’s Slipper orchids.
Start planning your first Minnesota Northwoods getaway and all of your family adventures today!
