The beautiful pink and white Showy Lady Slipper Orchid (Cypripedium Reginae) is the Minnesota state flower. She blooms across the Minnesota Northwoods from early June to mid-July. You can find lady slippers growing in the sunlight in wetlands or cool, damp woods. As the official state flower, and due to their rarity, it is illegal to pick a lady slipper, but snapping a photo is a must if you should find one.

A fun fact about lady’s slippers is they can live as long as 100 years!

If you would like to see a lady slipper, hop on the Lady Slipper Scenic Byway, a beautiful 28-mile stretch of road between Cass Lake and Blackduck, Minnesota, running through the Chippewa National Forest. You’ll see lady slippers, beautiful forests, trails, rivers and wildlife, and it’s just a short drive from any of our member resorts. Have your camera ready and share your pics with us on Facebook.
