Cass Lake, just northeast of the city of the same name, is the largest of the eight lakes that make up the Cass Lake chain of lakes. The scenery is incredible on the 15,596-acre lake, with its 26.9 miles of forested shoreline and sandy beaches. Cass offers fine populations of walleye, northern pike and perch. It is also popular with muskie anglers. The yellow perch catch has been up considerably in recent years, too, with perch reaching the 10- to 11-inch range. It’s one of the Minnesota lakes that always ends up on someone’s list of great fishing places. One of the most unique and interesting features of Cass Lake is Star Island, which has its own lake, Lake Windigo situated within the confines of the island featuring more than six miles of hiking trails.
Marclay Point Resort is the only Minnesota Northwoods resort that calls Cass Lake home. It is located on a private point on Allens Bay. It has 25 acres of park-like grounds and 2000′ of lakeshore with two sandy beaches. They have four lakeside cabins and 94 RV sites, mostly lakeside. Their protected harbors can accommodate over 80 boats. Other amenities include a store, lodge, boat/motor and pontoon rentals, gas, and bait.
