Good Eats: Discover the Best Places to Dine During Your Minnesota Northwoods Stay
Let’s face it: Food can make or break a vacation. And while a number of our guests choose to buy groceries and make their own food while vacationing at our resorts, chances are you’ll want to venture out and try the area’s awesome dining options at least once or twice. But where will you spend your hard-earned cash?
We have narrowed down our four favorite stops, which was no easy task given the variety and quality of restaurants in the area:
1. Lazy Jack’s
Known for their burgers (often called the best in town) and prime rib, Lazy Jack’s is a great, laid-back place for a family meal. Wing connoisseurs will love their jumbo wings (we’re talking the FULL wing here, not just portions) with a variety of unique sauces, including raspberry chipotle and jalapeno garlic. And if you want to work off the calories, you can hit the volleyball court, too.
2. Brigid’s Pub
Brigid’s is truly an IRISH pub, with selections such as corned beef egg rolls (“to die for” according to one Yelper), Irish stew, fish and chips and Reubens. Come for the food, stay for the frequent live music. As they say on the website, “If the music isn’t great, there won’t be any!”
3. Turtle River Chophouse
One of the newer restaurants in the Bemidji area, Turtle River Chophhouse features “American cuisine with an Asian flair.” Their unique menu includes Filipino egg rolls, made-from-scratch seafood ravioli and hand cut steaks, not to mention sushi.
4. Minnesota Northwoods
That’s right—some of our own resorts include restaurants. From simple snacks such as pizza and ice cream to full-fledged menus with sandwiches, steaks and seafood, our lodge restaurants offer a convenient place to grab a bite when you don’t want to cook but don’t feel like venturing too far from “home.”
